Former Nevada resident Caroline (Melohn) Hankins (wife of Don, now deceased) was honored earlier this year when she celebrated her 100th birthday with a party at her home in Sun City, Ariz. The event was put on by her sons, Gary of Glendale, Ariz., and Jo of Plano, Texas. Both Gary’s wife, Karen, and family, Debbie and Donald; and Jo’s wife, Carolyn, were in attendance. Two little great-granddaughters livened up the party, which was attended by many other friends and relatives.
Both Caroline and Don graduated from Nevada High School in 1932. Among the guests present were other Nevada grads: Bill and Lois Evans (1942), Avondale, Ariz.; Vivian Wilkening (1945), of Nevada; Steve Hankins (1967) of Phoenix, Ariz.; Shirlene Cook (1960) of Denver, Colo. and Shawn Wilkening (1978) of Ankeny.
The climax of the afternoon was a musical video of Caroline’s life, put together by her sons. It included pictures of her two daughters, Sharon and Sheryl, and her husband, Don, all deceased.
Those attending all made plans to come back and celebrate her 105th birthday!
