Cold weather did not keep people away from our New Year’s Eve party. Everyone enjoyed lots of good food, figuring out some Iowa trivia questions and singing a few songs, while Ruth Anderson accompanied us on the piano. We especially loved watching an episode of “I Love Lucy,” where Lucy and Ethel got into their usual amount of trouble by stealing John Wayne’s footprints from the Hollywood walk of fame. We will probably plan to have a party again next year, so please give me your ideas.
I hope it warms up a little by next Monday for our monthly potluck. Liz Hertz, from the Burke Corp., will join us as our guest speaker. I think we will be surprised at the variety and volume of meat products which are processed and shipped from our Nevada plant. If you have never attended the Senior Potluck, we would welcome you as our guest that day— just plan to arrive by 11:30.
Also next week we will be showing the movie “42” at 1:30 on Thursday, Jan. 16. This is an exceptionally good movie about Jackie Robinson as the first African American baseball player to integrate into major league baseball in the 1950s. The popcorn will be hot, so plan to join us.
