Wartburg singers to perform in Marshalltown

The Wartburg College Castle Singers will perform in Marshalltown on April 27-28 on their four-state national tour.

The 33-member jazz ensemble will sing at Miller Middle School, 125 S. 11th St., Saturday, April 27, at 8 p.m. Admission is a free-will donation. They will perform at the Elim Lutheran Church’s worship service, 302 West Church St., Sunday, April 28, at 9 a.m.

The Castle Singers is the only U.S. Lutheran college choir of its kind.

The “Jazz for all Seasons” section of the program will feature songs like “Summertime” by George Gershwin and “It Might as Well Be Spring” by Richard Rodgers. The “World of Jazz” set includes music from composers around the world.

Also in the repertoire is “Jazz Mass” by composer Craig Curry of Wichita, Kan., which was commissioned for the Castle Singers.
