Brayton Shill, who passed away last November, would have turned 8 on July 29.
In his memory, the Shill family is hosting a pool party at the Fawcett Family Aquatic Center on Saturday, July 27, from 5:30-7 p.m. They would love to have all family and friends of theirs and of Brayton’s come to the pool that night to celebrate his life, and help raise funds or provide gifts for Blank Children’s Hospital in Des Moines.
Mindy and Steve Shill of Nevada, Brayton’s parents, say that they had been planning a huge pool party last year to celebrate Brayton’s 7th birthday and what they had hoped was the end of his cancer treatments. The party, if it had been held, was going to raise funds or collect gifts for Blank Children’s Hospital, where Brayton and his family spent countless hours. His parents say it had been Brayton’s wish to have his party benefit the hospital.
“We had to miss so many of the everyday things that most take for granted, while Blank did all they could to make life, holidays, birthdays and every day as enjoyable as they could,” said Mindy.
They are hoping that people in this community will help make the July 27 birthday party a huge success. “We would like to do it every year in memory of Brayton,” Mindy said.
If you are unable to provide funds or a gift, the Shills say that’s OK; just come and swim and enjoy the night in honor of Brayton.
