The Perry Chamber Board announces several events for Saturday, May 3, that residents from all over central Iowa may be interested in attending.
Known as “Antique Days” in Perry, this year’s events (held on May 3 and 4) will include two productions, “Vang” and “Farmscape,” at the Carnegie Library Museum. Also, Iowa Poet Laureate Mary Swander and other top-tier talent will take part in the festivities.
On May 3, at the Carnegie, Swander will give a “Dramatic Monologue Workshop” from 2-3:30 p.m. From 4-5, “Vang,” a drama about recent immigrant farmers, will be performed. Following the performance, Swander will lead a discussion about the drama. Light refreshments will be served from 5:15-6 p.m., and from 6-7:15, “Farmscape” will be performed, followed with a Swander-led discussion. “Farmscape” takes on the subject of making a living in the changing rural environment. Both “Vang” and “Farmscape” are dramas that are recommended for those of high school age and older.
There is no charge to attend these productions.
