The Nevada City Council voted unanimously to approve the Friedrich Development Agreement during their meeting Monday night. A public hearing was held regarding the proposed development, during which no community members spoke. Kurt Friedrich talked about the development that will be located to the north of the existing Indian Ridge Development. He said they are excited to get the project started and have been getting a lot of interest from community members, including the Golden Kiwanis, who have invited him to present at an upcoming meeting.
Council gave a second reading to Ordinance 977, amending ordinance 970 to provide that the public safety director may also act as police chief.
The first reading to Ordinance 978 was also approved. The ordinance would amend the storm water utility fee from $5 per month to $5.25 per month. The increase will help cover the cost-share program recently approved by council.
Finally, staff updated the council on the paving projects for both the West Industrial Park expansion at Airport Road and the 590th and Lincoln Highway intersection. Rain is forecasted for Nevada for the rest of the week. Staff relayed that weather may delay the opening of Lincoln Highway from Nov. 8 to Nov. 15.
