The English as a Second Language (ESL) program, which is offered as a public service for the community, will celebrate its one-year anniversary on Sunday, June 15.
An open house will be held at Central Presbyterian Church, 932 Fifth St., from 2-4 p.m. Students will share folk art, food and music from their countries of Mexico, China and Russia, and they will practice their new English skills as they present their cultural backgrounds. There will not be a formal program, so visitors are free to come and go as they wish.
ESL classes meet regularly on Wednesdays, from 5:30-7 p.m., at the Central Presbyterian Church. Classes are taught by individuals from the Nevada community. Every effort is taken to provide each student with speaking and comprehension skills of the English language at the student’s level. Child care is provided and the classes are free.
For additional information about these classes, call 515-382-4998 or 515-231-4822.
