The Peterson family of Ames was at The Berry Patch farm, south of Nevada, Sunday picking its second big batch of Jonagold apples this year. Parents Jay and Diana said they come to The Berry Patch, located at 62785 280th St., every fall. On Sunday, the family picked apples and then made a trip into the three-acre pumpkin patch. Shown enjoying the afternoon are children: Logan, 5; Aliyah, 4 (with her dad Jay); and Noah, 2. Judy Henry of The Berry Patch said apples and pumpkins will be available to pick through the month of October. After October, apples are put into cold storage so they can be purchased through January. The Berry Patch is open from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. daily until Nov. 1.
