High school music students earn great ratings

The Nevada High School Music Department traveled to Greene County High School in Jefferson for the Iowa High School Music Association State Solo and Ensemble Contest. Students prepared individual vocal and instrumental solos and small groups to perform and be evaluated by an adjudicator.

Nevada received a total of seven Gold Division 1 ratings: Lydia Richards, flute solo; Baylee Milam, baritone saxophone solo; Tanner Jones, snare drum solo; Will Sutton, vocal solo; woodwind quintet (Lydia Richards, Madeline Mathis - oboe, Alexis Houseman - clarinet, Madison Merfeld - French horn, Katie Gildersleeve - baritone saxophone); vocal duet (Will Sutton and Isaac Royer) and vocal duet (Ashley Thacker and Megan Perkins).

Nevada also received 14 Silver Division 2 ratings, five Bronze Division 3 ratings and one Division 4 rating.
