The public is invited to the general meeting of the Story County League of Women Voters, Thursday, Sept. 19, 7-8:30 p.m., at Northminster Presbyterian Church Fireside Room., 1416 20th St. in Ames. Featured are Cornelia Flora, the Charles F. Curtiss Distinguished Professor of Sociology and Agriculture and Life Sciences at Iowa State University, and Drake Larsen, policy analyst for Practical Farmers of Iowa. Flora directed the North Central Regional Center for Rural Development for 15 years. Larsen has in-depth understanding of agriculture policy and did his graduate research in the Sustainable Agriculture Program at ISU. They will present an overview of the agriculture policy at the local and national levels. The League’s monthly general meetings are primarily informational meetings on current issues open to the public. The LWV is a non-partisan, grassroots organization dedicated to informing the public about issues of interest and registering citizens to vote. Membership is open to all.
