Mary Greeley announces available scholarships

Mary Greeley Medical Center has several scholarship opportunities for area high school seniors, nursing students, and Mary Greeley Medical Center employees.

The Mary Greeley Medical Center Foundation and Auxiliary are accepting applications for:

• Anna May Allan Endowed Nursing Scholarship

• J. Ben Buck Scholarship

• Helen Sidles Undergraduate Nursing Scholarships

• Kimberly A. Russel Auxiliary Endowed Scholarship

• Mary Ann Carr Auxiliary Endowed Scholarship

• Linda K. Dasher Auxiliary Endowed Scholarship

• Auxiliary Endowed Birthways Scholarship

• Nursing Legacy Scholarship

• Mary Greeley Medical Center Auxiliary Health Career Scholarships

Applications are due March 28, 2014 by 5 p.m. in the Mary Greeley Medical Center External Relations office. Scholarship recipients will be notified in April.

Anna May Allan Endowed Nursing Scholarship

The Anna May Allan Endowed Nursing Scholarship ($2,500) is awarded to an Iowa high school senior or graduate pursuing the study of nursing. To qualify, students must have achieved a cumulative 3.0 GPA in their most recent level of education and demonstrate a financial need.

J. Ben Buck Scholarship

The J. Ben Buck Scholarship ($1,000) is awarded to a student pursuing a health-related career. To qualify, students must have achieved a cumulative 3.0 GPA in their most recent level of education. Preference is given to students who are graduates of Ames High School. If no qualified graduates from Ames High School apply, then preference will be given to students who are graduates of high schools located in Story County. Scholarship recipients may reapply annually if they have maintained a 3.0 GPA in their most recent level of education.

Helen Sidles Undergraduate Nursing Scholarship

Each year the Mary Greeley Medical Center Foundation awards two $1,000 scholarships to nursing students entering their final year of nursing school. To qualify, students must have achieved a cumulative 2.7 GPA in the most recent level of education. One scholarship will be awarded to a Mary Greeley Medical Center employee, who is currently a nursing student, and another to a nursing student, not employed at Mary Greeley Medical Center.

Nursing Legacy Scholarship

The Nursing Legacy Scholarship ($500) is awarded to a Mary Greeley Medical Center Registered Nurse pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, with preference given to a nurse pursuing a degree through the Mary Greeley Medical Center on-site Bachelor of Science in Nursing program.

Auxiliary Endowed Birthways Scholarship

The Auxiliary Endowed Birthways Scholarship ($1,000) is awarded to a Mary Greeley Medical Center employee in Birthways who is a nursing student pursuing a career in obstetrics.

Kimberly A. Russel Auxiliary Endowed Scholarship

The Kimberly A. Russel Auxiliary Endowed Scholarship fund supports an annual scholarship award of $500 to a graduate student employed by Mary Greeley Medical Center. To qualify, recipients must have achieved a cumulative 3.0 GPA in their most recent level of education.

Mary Ann Carr Auxiliary Endowed Scholarship

The Mary Ann Carr Auxiliary Endowed Scholarship ($1,000) is awarded to a high school senior pursuing a career in health care. Application for this scholarship is available to students attending the following high schools: Ames, Ballard-Huxley, Boone, Collins-Maxwell, Colo-NESCO, Gilbert, Nevada, Roland Story and South Hamilton. All children/dependents of Mary Greeley Medical Center employees or volunteers are eligible regardless of high school attended.

Linda K. Dasher Auxiliary Endowed Scholarship

The Linda K. Dasher Auxiliary Endowed Scholarship ($1,000) is awarded to a high school senior pursuing a career in health care. Application for this scholarship is available to students attending the following high schools: Ames, Ballard-Huxley, Boone, Collins-Maxwell, Colo-NESCO, Gilbert, Nevada, Roland Story and South Hamilton. All children/dependents of Mary Greeley Medical Center employees or volunteers are eligible regardless of high school attended.

Mary Greeley Medical Center Auxiliary Health Career Scholarship

The Mary Greeley Medical Center Auxiliary offers fifteen $1,000 scholarships to high school seniors planning a career in health care. The scholarships are awarded to eligible seniors from the following high schools: Ames, Ballard-Huxley, Boone, Collins-Maxwell, Colo-NESCO, Gilbert, Nevada and Roland-Story. All children/dependents of Mary Greeley Medical Center employees or volunteers are eligible regardless of high school location. A minimum of two scholarships will be designated to children whose parents or guardians work or volunteer at Mary Greeley Medical Center.

Selections will be made based on scholastic performance, school and community activities, financial need and citizenship.
