The Annual Nevada Downtown Trick or Treat will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 29, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Families are invited to come downtown and trick or treat at 26 different businesses or organizations all located on Sixth Street, between J Avenue and M Avenue. The Nevada Kiwanis will be on patrol to help with traffic. The Nevada Journal will be taking photos of the little goblins and posting them on Facebook so the community can vote on their favorites.
The 26 businesses or organizations participating are: ATA Martial Arts, Ben Franklin, Carleton Family Medicine, First Mortgage, Haley Realty, Hunziker and Associates, McFarland Eye Center, Nevada Journal, NuCara Pharmacy, State Bank and Trust, StuffEnufForUs, Subway, Sweet Dreams Mattress Center and the Talent Factory. The following will be located in front of the Chamber office: ALMACO, American Legion Post #48 Auxiliary, Family of Faith Church, Nevada Lions Club, Story County Medical, and Youth and Shelter Services of Eastern Story County. Arends Sanitation will be in front of the Mayfair Cleaners building, U.S. Bank will be in front of Ben Franklin and Nevada Baptist Church will be in front of State Bank and Trust. The city of Nevada will have fire trucks and police cars in front of City Hall as well as representatives from the Parks and Recreation department.
“My first downtown trick or treat was in 2012, and we had over 400 children downtown,” reported Lynn Scarlett, Nevada Chamber of Commerce director. “It is a fun and safe activity for our families and we invite everyone to come downtown and have a great time.”
The Nevada Chamber of Commerce is a community-minded business organization that works with local businesses and organizations to make advancements in commerce, agriculture, industry, retailing, government, education, manpower, professional services, recreation, transportation and consumer relations for the community of Nevada.
