Starting Sept. 4, the contents of the Nevada Journal website will be accessible only to the newspaper’s print subscribers and to those who pay for an online subscription.
“For more than a century, our readers have paid to read the print edition of the Nevada Journal,” said Geoff Schumacher, publisher of the Stephens Media Iowa newspaper group, which includes the Nevada Journal. “We have come to believe this same news and information should be given the same value when we upload it to our website.”
Print subscribers will see no additional charge to access the website. However, they will need to contact the Journal to get set up with a login and password.
Those who do not currently subscribe to the Journal will need to purchase a print or online-only subscription in order to access website content.
“In this rapidly evolving media age, advertisers are exploring a variety of ways to get out their messages,” Schumacher said. “As a result, community newspapers need the support of their readers in order to carry out the vital tasks of covering local news and serving as the government’s watchdog.”
To set up access to the website, contact the Journal at 515-663-9890 during weekday business hours or go to nevadajournal.stephensmedia.com.
