Nevada Woman and Friends Continue Fight to End Alzheimer’s

Carla Darrah, left, Leora Jarnagin and Carol Thompson spent much of this past weekend working at the fourth annual garage sale to benefit the fight against Alzheimer’s Disease. Jarnagin is captain of “Team: Walkin’ For Mom,” a group of her friends and families who help raise funds to fight Alzheimer’s, the disease that took her mother, Patricia Darrah’s, life in 2012. Funds raised by the annual garage sale help support the team’s participation in the annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s, which will be going on in Ames this Saturday, Oct. 12, starting at 10 a.m. For those who would like to make a donation to help Team: Walkin’ For Mom, email Leora at: LRDarrah@aol.com. All funds raised go to the Alzheimer Association-Greater Iowa Chapter to support Alzheimer’s research and families who have loved ones suffering from the disease. Watch for a special story about Leora’s ongoing fight against Alzheimer’s in this month’s Facets magazine, coming out with the Ames Tribune and Nevada Journal.
