Nevada’s public safety director announced Wednesday, July 10, that he has been recruited and has accepted the position of program director of Criminal Justice, Forensics and Fire Sciences at Iowa Western Community College in Council Bluffs. Theulen served as public safety director for just over one year.

Public Safety Director Jeff Theulen cites in his letter of resignation that he has enjoyed working with the city council and staff, and he hopes that we have started a program that the city can build on. Theulen states that he regrets that his resignation is much sooner than expected, but for family and professional reasons he cannot turn down the new opportunity made available to him.

The City Council will discuss options to fill Theulen’s position at the next regular meeting scheduled for Monday, July 22, at 6 p.m. at City Hall.

According to City Administrator Elizabeth Hansen, “The City of Nevada staff sincerely appreciates Jeff’s passion, expertise, his stories and sense of humor.” “We all wish Jeff the very best,” she added.
