A recount of the votes in the Colo-Nesco school board at-large race is taking place today, Sept. 26. It will begin at 9 a.m. at the Story County Administration Building.
The at-large seat, according to unofficial results from the auditor’s office, showed the race going to incumbent John Fuller Jr. by just four votes. Fuller received 168 votes to Gary Hendrick’s 164 votes. There were also seven write-in votes for the seat.
The recount is public and observers may watch and listen; however, they may not participate or interfere. Observers are not permitted to touch ballots. A recount board - made up of Gannon Hendrick, designee of Gary Hendrick; Mary Richards, designee of John Fuller, Jr.; and Bob Jamison, chosen by Gannon Hendrick and Richards - must submit a written report to the auditor no later than Oct. 1.
