I am back home and enjoying this wonderfully cool weather. Our time away from home was great but it is good to get back into a routine at home.
I guess the first thing at the Center will be our regular Bingo day next week on Aug. 7 at 2 p.m. If you have never been to our Bingo event we would love to have you join us. The cost is $3, which includes 12 games of Bingo and a scrumptious dessert.
Our potluck day will be on the following Monday starting at 11:30. I’m looking forward to lots of garden produce and I bet there will be some fresh fruit pies. Because our Lincoln Highway Days celebration is fast approaching, our program for potluck day will be a video about the building of the original Lincoln Highway. After reading Pete Korsching’s “Meanderings” column in last week Journal, about his trip to Yellowstone, I may as well tell you that Rog and I spent the first night or our honeymoon right here in Nevada at Cook’s cabins along the Lincoln Highway. Like Pete mentioned, no one made reservations in those days so you stayed wherever there was a motel along the route you were traveling. It’s been 55 years ago but I remember leaving my bouquet on the air conditioner when we left. I hope to see lots of you at the potluck on the 11th.
