Karen Petersen, Ames; Becky Senti, Story City; and Linda Gibbs, Colo (all pictured) have joined the advisory board for Story County Community Foundation (SCCF).
Petersen is a certified financial planner, serving clients as a fee-based advisor and a certified financial divorce analyst. She has taught family financial management in the College of Family and Consumer Sciences and is a member of Heartland Senior Services board and financial development team. She writes a monthly column in Facets Magazine.
Senti is retired from a career in teaching and works part time at the Pumpkin Patch in Ames. She has served on the Ames International Orchestra Festival Association Guild Board and the Roland-Story School Foundation. She is active in the Story City Historical Society and, with her husband Sam, volunteers at the Story City Antique Carousel.
Gibbs is the business development specialist for the Greater Iowa Credit Union and she manages the credit union’s Individual Development Accounts, which supports families in need. She is a member of the Ames High Business Advisory Council. She was president of the Nevada Chamber of Commerce and received the Governor’s award for volunteerism in 2012.
SCCF is a vehicle for charitable giving. Under its umbrella are nearly 100 philanthropic funds created by donors and nonprofit organizations to benefit Story County. SCCF also administers the State of Iowa’s County Endowment, awarding more than $700,000 in community grants since 2005.
