To the editor:
With the help of the United Way of Story County, ACCESS provides many essential safety services when someone is seeking help in the midst of abuse. In other cases, families can need support to heal after the threat of abuse has passed. One mother wrote, “I needed to be told ‘you are safe now, you are allowed to feel, and there are people here to help.’ ACCESS is a place that has let me come out of a shell. I am allowing myself to let the pain that I have pushed so deep inside melt away and let go. My advocate made me feel safe. My son has become a child who smiles, laughs, and is learning to safely stand up to his father. We are both learning to laugh and smile and stand up to our past together.” Your support of programs like ACCESS help keep our community members strong and healthy.
