Area throwers earn honors at Central College

Two area throwers found success on the Central College track and field team this spring.

Jordan Sanders, a freshman from Nevada and a graduate of Nevada High School, earned his freshman letter. Sanders finished the season with personal bests of 123 feet one inch in the discus throw and 116 feet six inches in the hammer throw.

Jake Webb, a freshman from Zearing and graduate of Colo-Nesco High School, also earned a freshman letter. Webb finished the season with personal bests of 127 feet in the discus throw and 108 feet seven inches in the hammer throw.

Rachel Bosworth of Ames earned an athletic letter for outstanding participation on the Coe College volleyball team during the 2013-14 academic year. Bosworth, a 2011 graduate of Nevada High School, is the daughter of Trudy Tatum.

Bosworth is a third-year letter winner in volleyball and was named to the All-Iowa Conference First Team as a middle blocker and middle hitter. The volleyball team is under the direction of eighth-year Head Coach DeAnn Woodin. Coe finished second in the Iowa Conference for the second-straight season. During the season, the Kohawks put together a school-record 21-straight victories. Coe finished the year 33-5 overall and 6-1 in the Iowa Conference. The 33 wins was the best in school history, while the Kohawks also had a league-high five players selected to the All-Iowa Conference team.
