To the editor:
On Saturday, April 5, at the Nevada High School, something happened that is hard to describe with words. I was surrounded by hundreds of people coming together and supporting me to overcome my second battle with brain cancer. All of the smiles, hugs, faith and prayers were amazing and very heartfelt! When I think back to that night, it was unbelievably special and God was in our presence in so many different ways.
My family and I would like to thank first and foremost the committee who started the benefit on my behalf. Without their passion and caring, nothing like the benefit could have happened. They include Coach Gary Vasey, Coach Mike Foley, Coach Larry Parker, Coach Chris Nady, Chad Highland and my best friend, Toby McCarter. I would also like to thank my family, all of the women who prepared and provided the dinner and treats, the people and businesses in the Nevada community, other coaches, teachers, past teammates and friends who also helped make everything happen and were so supportive and caring.
“What lies behind us and what lies before us are small matters compared to what lies within us”
True kindness and character were revealed by everyone on this special night!
