The United Way of Story County (UWSC) 2013 LIVE UNITED campaign has concluded, and the generosity of Story County has resulted in another record-breaking total - $1,905,388! We truly thank you for impacting the education, income and health of individuals and families in our community! The countywide goal of $1.85 million was exceeded, but more importantly, you helped change the lives of your friends and neighbors.

The campaign is a great start, but did you know the value of your contribution is even greater? We decided to conservatively estimate the return on your investment when you donate to the LIVE UNITED campaign. For every dollar you contribute to UWSC through the annual campaign, you actually receive a $1.57 return on your investment. For a graphical breakdown, contact our office. But let’s try to explain it in text …

Annual drives, including the LIVE UNITED campaign, Endowment donations and Golf Fore Kids fundraising resulted in $1,964,556. Some UWSC program partners used their allocations to leverage additional revenue, resulting in $624,489. Another $322,522 can be added through collaborations and special projects, such as the Iowa Reading Corps pilot and the Nevada Summer Food Program. Finally, $81,684 has been saved to UWSC and partner agencies due to UWSC mobilizing volunteers for Day of Caring, summer feeding, Women with Initiative mentoring and more.

Add all those figures together, and the 2013 total impact adds up to $2,993,251. Do a little percent change math, and it results in a $1.57 return on investment for every $1 donated. As a donor myself, I feel really good about that!

We couldn’t do what we do without supportive businesses, partner agencies providing much needed services and a very generous community. Thanks again for all you do for Story County!

Let’s continue to celebrate that each of us is UNIQUE APART but always UNITED TOGETHER. It takes everyone in the community working together to create a brighter future, and we thank you for your involvement. Give. Advocate. Volunteer. LIVE UNITED.
