No. 10 Cub girls clobber Norse

STORY CITY – There weren’t any signs of rust on the Nevada girls’ basketball team when the Cubs took on Roland-Story Saturday in Story City.

Playing in its first game back from Christmas break, Nevada started each half strong, producing a convincing 60-37 victory.

Nevada – ranked 10th in Class 3A – jumped out to a 17-7 lead after one quarter. The Cubs held a 28-18 lead at the break and then broke the game open in the third quarter by outscoring the Norse, 16-4.

Nevada shot the ball well from 3-point range and the foul line. The Cubs were 9 of 24 from behind the arc and 11 of 16 at the line.

An aggressive defense also played a big part in the victory as Nevada finished with 18 steals.
