No. 3 Cubs knock off No. 10 Little Dutch, 2-0

NEVADA – The Nevada girls’ soccer team turned in another top-notch outing against a ranked opponent May 8 as the Cubs blanked Pella, 2-0, at the SCORE Athletic Complex in Nevada.

Nevada, the No. 3 team in Class 1A, fired off 10 shots on goal and gave up seven against the No. 10 team in 2A. Great defense from Raegan Saunders, Lexi Kruschwitz, Kaylee Kruschwitz and Mara Rhodes, and another tremendous outing by keeper Clara Sporrer enabled the Cubs to pull off the shutout and remain undefeated at 12-0.

Michaela Matuska and Abby Stephenson each scored once for Nevada. Kati Cassabaum and Jessica Helton dished out one assist apiece for the Cubs.

Pella keeper Jeannie Etnyre made five saves in a losing effort.
