Royal boys finish fifth at Saydel Invite

DES MOINES – The Colo-Nesco boys’ golf team took fifth at the Saydel Invitational Friday at the Woodland Hills Golf Course in Des Moines.

Colo-Nesco shot a 207 over nine holes to finish just one stroke behind Collins-Maxwell-Baxter for fourth place. North Polk won the team championship with a 182, Van Meter took second with a 187 and Saydel shot a 188.

Cole Ozbun turned in the best round for Colo-Nesco. Ozbun shot a 45 to finish three strokes out of first place.

Saydel’s Rece Martin and Van Meter’s Grant Waller both shot a 42 as the top two individual performers at the meet. North Polk’s Berke Osborne and Grant Schiltz each carded a 44.

Tanner Clatt carded a 53, Isaiah Texeira shot a 54 and Ayden Bappe delivered a 55 as the other scored Royal golfers.

Final team scores (nine holes): 1. North Polk 182, 2. Van Meter 187, 3. Saydel 188, 4. CMB 206, 5. Colo-Nesco 207
