Royal boys finish third at home quadrangular

COLO – The Colo-Nesco boys’ golf team placed third in a home quadrangular meet May at the Twin Anchors Golf Course near Colo.

The Royals shot a 311 over nine holes to beat Collins-Maxwell-Baxter by 18 strokes for third. Bondurant-Farrar easily won with a score of 225 and Colfax-Mingo took second after shooting a 288.

Cole Ozbun had the best individual score for Colo-Nesco as he carded a 40. Isaiah Texeira shot a 48, Tyler Anthony delivered a round of 52 and Aden Bappe recorded a 54 as the final scored Royal golfer.

Evan Dodd and Tanner Clatt also competed for Colo-Nesco. Dodd shot a 57 and Clatt finished with a 60. Colfax-Mingo’s Jimmy Abel was the medalist after carding a 40.

Final team scores (nine holes): 1. Bondurant-Farrar 225, 2. Colfax-Mingo 288, 3. Colo-Nesco 311, 4. CMB 329.

TRIPOLI – The Colo-Nesco boys’ golf team turned in a seventh-place performance at the Iowa Star Conference meet May 7 in Tripoli.

The Royal boys shot a 411 over 18 holes to beat Don Bosco by seven strokes for seventh out of nine teams. Dunkerton won the team championship with a score of 361, Tripoli shot a 367 to place second and North Tama came in third with a 376.

Tanner Clatt carded the best individual score for Colo-Nesco with a 98. Clatt’s score tied him for 16th overall individually.

Cole Ozbun tied for the 19th-best score by shooting an even 100. Isaiah Texeira tied for 22nd with a score of 101 and Tyler Anthony delivered the final counted score for the Royals with a 38th-place showing of 112.

Evan Dodd carded a 121 and Aden Bappe a 126 as the other two competitors for Colo-Nesco.

Dunkerton’s Jordan Kubitz easily won medalist honors with an impressive score of 76. Chad Plaehn was a distant eight strokes back in second place with an 84.
