Royal girls earn nine top-five finishes at Eldora

ELDORA – The Colo-Nesco girls’ track team recorded nine top-five finishes and the Royal boys turned in four at the South Hardin Coed Invitational Friday in Eldora.

The Colo-Nesco girls picked up one bronze medal. The Royals also placed fourth and fifth four times apiece, scoring 50 points to place eighth in the final team standings.

Angela Brinkman turned in the top individual performance for Colo-Nesco by placing third in the 400-meter hurdles. Brinkman’s time of one minute, 14.62 seconds just edged out the 1:14.81 by AGWSR’s Maddie Brandt for the bronze in the event.

Iowa Falls-Alden’s Desiree Folsom won the 400 hurdles in 1:12.68 and Denver’s Lexi Roeding took second in 1:13.39.

Caitlan Clark and Shayla Dean came in fourth and fifth respectively in the 200 for the Royals. Clark ran a :28.30 and Dean was right behind in :28.41.

Dean also took fourth in the 400 and fifth in the 100. Her 400 time was 1:05.82 and she crossed the finish line of the 100 in :13.71.

Hallie Riese took fifth in the 100 hurdles for Colo-Nesco with an :18.13 showing.

Devin Francis had the best field event for Colo-Nesco in the discus. Her peak throw of 100 feet, three inches placed fourth.

In relay events Colo-Nesco took fourth in the shuttle hurdle and fifth in the 4 X 400.

Riese, Brinkman, Kassie Robinson and Brandi Erickson teamed to run a 1:17.57 in the shuttle hurdle. Erickson, Brinkman, Clark and Dean joined up to run a 4:44.49 in the 4 X 400.

Colo-Nesco also took sixth in the 4 X 200 as Erickson, Rachel Vincent, Makaelyn Neuendorf and Clark joined up to run a 2:07.05.

South Hardin won the girls’ team championship with 147 points and Iowa Falls-Alden was second with a score of 118.

The Colo-Nesco boys scored 33.5 points to also place eighth in the team standings. CMB blew away the boys’ field with 185 points and Denver took second with a score of 103.

Christian Reischauer won the silver medal in the 400 low hurdles and he also helped the Royal boys place third in the 4 X 200.

In the 400 lows Reischauer ran a :58.33 to trail only the :56.73 by CMB’s Jordan Coughenour. Reischauer won a tight battle for second as Madrid’s Levi Hudnutt took third in :58.62 and Denver’s Isaac Barrett placed fourth in :58.84.

The Royal 4 X 200 team ran a 1:38.49 to finish just behind Madrid’s runner-up time of 1:38.33. Denver won the race in 1:35.80.

Reischauer ran the anchor leg in the 4 X 200. Taylor Hill ran the opening leg and he was followed by Clayton Bryan and Noah Gibbons.

Hill tied for fourth individually in the 100 with BCLUW’s Taylor Sams. Both Hill and Sams ran a :12.14.

Brady Stoeffler, Grant Tiarks, Bryan and Gibbons teamed to place fifth in the shuttle hurdle with a time of 1:07.69.

Colo-Nesco also placed sixth in both the 4 X 800 and 4 X 100. Elliot Morgan, Stoeffler, Steven Cutler and Garret Tiarks ran the 4 X 800 in 9:28.08 and Hill, Bryan, Gibbons and Reischauer completed the 4 X 100 in :48.84.
