Royals come up short against Warriors

TAMA – The Colo-Nesco boys’ basketball team wasn’t able to get past Meskwaki in an Iowa Star Conference game Dec. 17 at Tama as the Royals couldn’t shake an early deficit in a 67-63 loss.

The first half featured plenty of offense. Colo-Nesco trailed 43-38 at the break after giving up 24 points in the second quarter.

The third quarter saw the pace slow down a little bit. Colo-Nesco held Meskwaki to 14 points in the quarter, but the Royals only netted nine, falling behind by 10.

Colo-Nesco stepped up to outscore Meskwaki over the final eight minutes. The Royals were able to make things interesting, but they couldn’t finish the comeback, dropping to 3-4 overall and 3-2 in the ISC.

Brady Stoeffler and Christian Reischauer were the top all-around performers for Colo-Nesco in the loss. Stoeffler had 16 points and six assists and Reischauer produced 12 points, eight rebounds, five steals and four assists.

Casey Angell also scored 12 points and he added five rebounds. Cole Ozbun gave the Royals 10 points, four rebounds and two steals and Tanner Clatt chipped in eight points, three assists and two steals.
