Royals end regular season with loss to Defenders

MCCALLSBURG – The Colo-Nesco softball team ended the regular season with a 6-1 non-conference home loss to Grandview Park Baptist July 3.

The Royals fell behind 4-0 in the third inning and never fully regrouped. They came back with a run in the fourth, but didn’t score again and the Defenders tacked on two runs in the sixth to ice the game.

Erica Babinat took the loss for the Royals, who fell to 7-16. She gave up six earned runs on 10 hits with four walks and two strikeouts in seven innings.

Hannah Buseman, Shayla Dean, McKenna Farren, Peyton Hall and Kylie Sarver each singled once for Colo-Nesco’s only hits. Sarver also scored the lone Royal run, Dean drew a walk and stole a base and Michelle Babinat also picked up a free pass for Colo-Nesco.

Emily Pinegar went 3-for-4 with a double, run and RBI, Dani DeGraff doubled and drove in two runs and Sierra Scarnati wound up 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI for Grandview Park Baptist. Scarnati was the winning pitcher as she gave up one earned run with six strikeouts and two walks in seven innings.
